Kensai AC

Post by Seengs1 »

What is the highest AC anyone's gotten on the old Kensai?? A list of items/stats used would be excellent for comparison.

iirc:

base 10
-2 kensai bonus
-4 dex bonus
-2 gaxx
-1 earth control ring
-2 cloak of protection
-2 defender weapons: easthaven, zerth blade yammoto or drizzt scimitar.

ac -3 or -4 by my count more vs styles of weapons, taking different belts into account

granted it's kinda wierd to wield a flail + katana at the same time.

Most protagonists get Draw Upon Holy Might, which can raise your Dex far enough to knock a couple more points off your AC. Of course, that's only there in the first half of the game.

U can get a fairly good AC by using a shield
(5 bonus to AC with the best shield), but then again, a Kensai using a shield? Well I practice kendo and I find that ofensive, so I wouldn`t do it...but it would be darn powerfull!
If they`d only implemented the correct D&D progressive lowering AC (like monks)...oh well.

If you dual class a Kensai to a thief, sonner or later you will get the'Use any Item' ability in ToB. This means he can use Armour and Gauntlets. Very cool.

Same goes with any other class which can dual class. Any restricted items becomae abvailable.

It's great when you can wield the Carsomyr better than a Paladin :)

A Kensai/Mage can get even lover by wearing a Robe. My K/M have Robe of V., Gaxx, +1 Ac ion stone, Ring of P +2, and 18 dex (can't recall if A. of Power gives a bonus). Anyway, his AC at -9 (or -8 or -10, something like that). It's better than some of my fighters, but only because I gave him all the cool rings. Good ol' Kensai/Mage . . . . .

The lowest AC I could work out for a Kensai without dual classing is

10
-2 Kensai AC bonus
-4 Dex 18
-3 +3 Ring of protection (TOB)
-2 Ring of Gaxx (Dock District)
-1 Cloak of the sewer (Temple district sewers)
-2 Drizzt's +5 Defender scimiter (Wilderness)
-5 +4 Sentinal shield (Underdark)
=-9

The only things I can think to add to this are a shield amulet which would reduce the AC by a further 6 against melee when in use, any of the defence potions, agility potions etc. Also I know kensai cannot use helmets but are they also ruled out from using Ioun stones coz you could manage to pick up an extra point there if they can.
Just remember, everyone is entitled to my opinion
