Hi folks,
Being an old fan of IWD, I reinstalled it along with HoW and TotL today, to find a strange problem--
After the prologue, I speak to Hrothgar and try to start the game, only to have the loading screen come up and say "Wrong disc in Drive C, please insert Disc 2."
I tried opening the .ini file and fixing the destination, since sure enough, they were like this-
CD2:=C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Icewind Dale\CD2\
I tried the same but with D: instead, but the same problem occured. Finally, just to try something, I deleted everything except the CD2.
CD2:=D:\CD2 is what I ended up with.
I actually got to the cut scene with that, but it was very choppy and eventually froze. Maybe the command line is wrong, could someone please post the correct one?
I've never seen anything like this before, and would really like to play again, so any help would be appreciated. Anyone have any ideas?

I don't believe the command line is wrong, but you can actually check it quite easily by yourself. Just compare the path where you installed IWD, and if the path is same as in that line, then everything should be in order in there.
Have you tried to reinstal? Old method, but works very well in many situations.
Haven't played IWD in ages, was there possibility to select what you instal? If there is you could check if you are able to only instal the main content, nothing more.
Also, you could also check if you get it work by changing that command line to refer you cd, like d:\ or d:\cd2 (I'm not sure if these works, but just see if there is that cd2 -folder somewhere inside the cd, and change the command line to match the path where the folder is in you cd. Also remember to include the cd2 -folder itself to path).
Hope these helps

Had the same problem recently. After trying and trying I had enough, and bought the Black isle Compilation Pack 2 ( nice backups for all my originials ) and installed Icewind Dale ( and all addons ) with those CDs...now it works.
I think the CD might be broken...maybe it's scratched and couldn't copy all the files to the HD anymore. The 2nd CD has allways been troublesome with me....
