Most of the time when a spell effect is cast in game, the effect is replaced by a large portion of the screen which has horizontal lines aross it. I have found that checking both the "software blitting" and "software tranparency" in video options solves this, but when I do this the game only runs at 3 fps or so (VERY stuttery and hard to move around). This is weird since I have a fairly fast processor (if my processor can only do it at 3fps, it would have been unplayable in 1999.) Any ideas??? I would really like to avoid getting an older video driver if possible since I would probably have to get one at least 18 months old or more.
Thanks.
If you own an NVidia card you could try downloading the 56.72 driver from the NVidia website. That seems to work well with Black Isle games and may help you.
does it matter if that driver came out before my video card? I have a 6600GT and the 66.93 driver was the first one to officially support it. Will the older driver still work?
Incidentally, I can play BG2 just fine. This problem only happens in Torment for some reason.
I have patched the game. I installed the 66.93 driver and it actually seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks for your help (and I'll be back if something else goes wrong )
