Pls help - won't run!

Post by ruscavo »

Hi guys, I'm desperate for a little help here. I can seem to get BGII to run once I've installed TOB. I've played the game on this PC before, but after a long break I tried replaying and it won't run. I get this error report:

AppName: bgmain.exe AppVer: 2.5.0.2 ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0000007e

If I reinstall the game without TOB it runs fine but as soon as I put that on there it just doesn't go anywhere. I'm using windows XP, and the game is completely unmodded or patched!

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I need this game in my life!
Thanks
R

Well, its would seem my plea has fallen on deaf ears. Either that or nobody has clue what could be wrong.

I just done some playing around and it would seem its definately related to the file BGmain.exe. When TOB is installed it appears to alter this file in such a way as its not recognised. It is beyond me to work out whats going on with it, I only hope somebody can come up with a suggestion.

Ah well.

Right. Couldn't be the fact that our regulars have jobs, and only check once a day or so. Ruscavo, I understand your frustration, but you have to give it time. I would also suggest you post your problem on the Bioware boards.

Meanwhile, I'm going to move this thread to the Tech Support forum, but leave a redirect. That way, you'll get two groups of posters for one.

Your welcome. ;)

You could try installing the official ToB patch, followed by the Baldurdash patch...(after installing ToB) I'm not sure it will do anything, but it's worth a shot.

The other thing you might want to try is completely uninstalling the game, and then using something like reg cleaner to make sure you have removed every last remaining vestige of any previous install. Sometimes, any lingering bits can cause problems, I gather.

Absolutely. Even Regedit can help. Just search for every mention of Bioware, Baldur, etc. Delete them all.
