Demon Key - Naga Temple

Hey, I'm on my 3rd character through the game and I have yet to get the demon key in the naga temple. I free the thieves and follow them around, exhaust the dialogue, but still no key. I'd really like to fight that demon in the tomb, but I can never get the key. Any suggestions?

The thief is in the northern cell. I followed him to the back of the large room and he gave me the key after the initial conversation.
That demon by the way is one tough character. I think he netted around 1.4 millioin points. On the good side the trunks gave me Deathlord Plate and boots.

yeah, I'm dying to fight him. I think 3 of the elder spirits from the elven elder trials netted about 1.8 mil or so? Not positive. But alot of that was just tedious, especially the first guy. Sure is nice having that many adv pts that early in the game though

After you kill all the naga save your game then only let the northern most thief out. That way the others won't get in your way or confuse you. He gave me the key at the exit to the room after leading me on a merry chase. I had to talk to him twice. D
