cheat codes not working

Post by Mopher Gorb »

I'm a newbie to cheating so please help. I successfully modified the Baldur.ini file as I can use any of the CTRL+whatever cheats but:

I cannot add any magic items to my characters. I keep getting responses like "last token read: "<eof>" at line 1...." Can somone please give me a detailed example of how to add an item to my game? Shall we use the 'harbringer' 2-H swd as an example? Its SW2HO7 right? I know I must be doing something stupid like missing a " or } or some such crap.

You need to type exactly like this:

CLUAConsole:CreateItem("")

Between the quotes you add the name of the item.

But dude, dont cheat. BG is an easy game, and you get really overpowered - exploit the game engine, the weapons, the magic sistem, sit back and relax. Cheating is ugly. Nasty. Its... worst than Cheesing.
Flesh to stone ain't permanent, it seems.

Thanks. I never cheated before but I can't find the second part of this stupid illithid rod/key thing in the ToB, the Watcher's Keep. Without it I can't move on. I checked the forums, went to the room I was supposed to and the key just ain't there. I'm just going to make the key and quit my cheating ways...promise.

Scroll to the bottom and download shadowkeeper. It's an extremely popular bg2 tool that you can use to modify your savegame. You can add/remove items, change your characters' class, stats, appearance, etc. etc. But don't fall into the temptation of cheating until you've played at least one clean run.
