For those who use magic..

..can you tell me how to get rid of the hotkey menu? I accidentally hit the F key and it brought the fast menu up. I don't want to cast any spells and I don't know how to get rid of the screen once it pops up. :\

You'd think F would toggle it, but no, you have to hit Q to "switch weapons."

You can choose to assign any key to anything and if you make
a mistake just hit the "DEFAULTS" key and it will fix itself.

You can unassign any key that provides a problem by choosing
one key that is already assigned and assigning that key to the
action you want blank and then assign that key back to the action
that it was assigned to.


WARNING: Make sure you keep track of the keys you use
and change so that a selection/function that you need
does not end up with a key assigned to it.

Problem: unassign the 'F' key

1) click the arrow next to the letter 'F' that is assigned to the Fast
Magic Menu and a screen will pop up ask ing you to assign a key
to the Fast Action Menu.
2) hit the 'Right Shift' key and it will assign that key in place of 'F'
3) now you need to assign the 'Right Shift' key back where it was
and the default key setting is the right side arrow of the
GET - ACTIVATE - TALK selection.
4) click the arrow on the right side of the GET - ACTIVATE - TALK
selection and it will ask you to assign a key. Press the 'Right
Arrow' and it will assign it back to it's default position.
5) the 'F' is now unassigned.

I have been doing this for most of the games that I have played
where it allows you to assign the keys to your liking and it makes a
difference in the game as I try to keep most of the action keys in
one area on the keyboard.

I will attach a copy of my current KEYBOARD setup if I can figure out
how to do it.

I highly recommend that you start a game to Start Menu choose 'Options'
and select Keyboard. The default settings for all keys 'assigned' will display
and you should then press your 'Print Screen' key. Exit the game and go
to the Programs list and at the top you will find Accessories. Hold your
pointer there and a list of programs will be displayed including one called
Paint. Open the Paint program and click on the 'Edit' button and chose
Paste. You will now have a picture that can be printed of the 'DEFAULTS'
for all assigned keys used in the game. Print it out and when you make
any changes also print it out so you can see what you changed. If
anything goes wrong go back to the Keyboard Options page on the Start
Menu in your game and simply hit the 'DEFAULTS' key and everything
will be set back to normal.

Good Luck and give it a try as it can make your game more enjoyable
because you will not have to search for the key you want. Check out
the copy of my Keyboard setup called 'Keyboard Setup.jpg' for a sample.
