Did I do something wrong? SPOILERS for NWN, Maugrim

Post by ladyblack »

Whoops! I ....um....accidentally killed the completely unstoppable, unkillable Siege Golem without killing the controlling Sorcerer first. I had Dalean and a Fire Elemental and I was a Cleric. I'd cast Regeneration on Dalean (well, it was only fair, he does all the fighting) and came across the Golem before tackling the Sorcerer. I ran away, but no one followed me. When I went back, Dalean was completely holding his own, healing any damage done to him, and the Golem was getting worn down. I threw a spell at it as an experiment, but it ignored me and kept hammering Dalean. So I threw my entire arsenal at it, which didn't actually do a great deal of damage, but it was enough to enable Dalean and Elemental to finish him off. So then I went and tackled the Sorcerer - "Void", what a wonderful spell! - and now it keeps telling me I have to go and kill the Controlling sorcerers otherwise I can't complete that particular mission. I have carried on and have just been killed by Aribeth (*sigh* "Void", what a horrible spell) but I can't find any more sorcerers. Or is it Maugrim they are referring to?

Keep looking. I too killed one of those 'unkillable' golems. IIRC, there are two sorcerors. If you can't find them, don't worry, it's optional after all.

Well - simply try the various buildings around the area, and you should run into the people controling the golems, if you wish. There was 4 if I remember right - and I also recall killing the golems before the controllers.

I've just replayed the scenario (I got my Cleric a very useful custom made piece of jewellery and wanted to try it out) and this time we killed two sorcerers and got the "The city is safe from the Golems" message in my Journel. Very weird. Probably my computer again, getting its knickers in a twist.

Ah well, I'm all done, I cheated very badly with my Cleric, but I got her through the last bit. I honestly don't know how I did it first time around, SPOILER please highlight : my Wizard keeps getting killed by the final baddie. I couldn't get her past the Statue, my summound creatures kept being unsummounded by Morag and then one of the Old Ones would leap in and kill me. My electrical spells didn't destroy the statue. Never mind, it's onto to Shadows or Hordes.

NWN final battle - spoilers

I played that battle with a wizard and cast Horrid Wilting at the lizards that provide protections to Morag. The spell must have killed one or more important lizards as the battle was pretty easy afterwards.

True.. my horrid wilting killed ALL of the protection lizards
After that.. it was a snap.
I didn't kill the golems 'cause my wizard is a loner and hates company.. i didn't have much chance against it alone. (the controlling wizards however were easy to find and easy to kill).
But the impossible-to-kill golems in the Creator Ruins weren't that big a deal though ... my finger (of death) seems pretty accurate as of late. :D
