Question About Rune Magic

Post by Siberys »

Well first off, I had to format my hardrive a while ago, so I have nothing for DL. Now, my main concern is about Rune Magic. Before my computer had to be formatted, I had a character that has completed the Naga Temple. She went through a lot of side quests and things like that. Pretty high level too. She was level 14 after some flurries with a few drakes. The problem is, is I wanted to specialize in Rune Magic. I found a total of 3 stones and they didn't match to make a spell. So, my questions are...

-Am I doing something wrong with the runes?
-Is this another bug yet to be fixed?
-If it isn't a bug, can someone tell me how to find good decent runes and how to use them?

Thank you for any time you take to help me.

The only good source (so far) for rune stones is grymlok. He is to be found in the northern lands. I too played a character specialised in rune stones, only to switch later to arcane. Rune magic seems more oriented to multiplayer games as lots of the spells work on a party.

Yeah, I agree on the multiplayer thing, but I also specialized in summons. If I can summon about 10 skeletons and a few trolls and then pump them up with Rune Magic, they would be nuts.

-Rune Magic: 9 points
-Nether Magic: 7 points
-Arcane/celestial: 4 each.

Thanks for the info, and I will talk to grymlock about this as rune magic is possibly the best choice for my character.

Celestial temple in arindale, mage shop in fargrove and grymlock are the only places I've found to buy rune stones. I have never had a rune stone drop from a chest or creature. I have a list that I got somewhere that said rune armor, rune stricke, rune blade and sanctuary are the only spells that work. Haven't tested that so I don't know if it's complete list. This would mean rune stones bruenguld, cythoen, dementos and feohn are the only stone you'll ever need.
Another note, I bought sanctuary (the 'complete spell' )from gyrmlock only to find out it wasn't charged (no stones included). It cost 15,200 gold, yikes! So I sold it assuming I could just buy the stones and mix them to make the spell. Not so, you have to buy the spell too. So to get 1 charge of rune sanctuary it will cost you 30,000 + gold for ONE CHARGE that will recharge very slowly. The next charge will ONLY cost you 15,000 + gold for the stones. You only need one spell. By the way if you didn't know and you bought 2 or 3 spells then you bought nothing just tosed your money out the window. D

Thats not quite true. You need to buy a rune spell once. Next, you need mana to charge the spell. So you will need a combination of stones. The stones recharge over time. So buy more stones (not spells) to be able to cast spells more often.

That's what I said sorry if I wasn't clear. One spell + stones to charge it. More stones = more charges. Never need more then one spell of a type but the npc will sell you more then one spell of a type and if you buy them they are worth nothing and can not be resold to get your money back because you'll only have one listed in your inventory. This may have changed with the junk fix but don't count on it. D
