The Maze (Small Spoiler Inside)

Post by Tarro »

Okay if you did the Windspear Hills Quest, and talked to Samia and decided to "help" her with it, when you fight her and her gang, I can't seem to win! My party is currently...

Kaerun -- Swashbuckler
Jaheara -- Fight/Druid
Minsc -- Ranger
Aerie -- Cleric/Mage
Nalia -- Thief/Mage
Viconia -- Cleric

I have Minsc use the Sword of Chaos +2 instead of the flail of ages, because he has the proficiency and Kaerun stand back with his Light Crossbow +1. Aerie casts Magic Missle and Flame Strike until she runs out then goes to the weaker line of spells (Like Acid Arrow.) Jaheara summons her bear and Aerie summons an earth elemental who is unsummoned usually before the battle. Nalia sits back and pounds on Chak with her bow, as does Aerie with her sling and Viconia with her sling. Kaerun only has about 48 hit points. Jaheara normally shapeshifts into a bear before fighting, on account she just has a plain scimitar. Normally I try to drop them in this order: The Barbarian, The Wizard, The Cleric, Samia (Fighter), The Thief then The Druid. Nalia is using a Shortbow with Fire Arrows and Arrows of Biting. Any help would be apprieciated.

well, if you are not opposed to cheese tactics...
cast web in that room before taking the dragonsword and shield.
or even worse...skull traps, delayed blast fireball, thief traps.
also...in almost any fight you should always go after the spellcasters first.
I would be a serial killer if i didn't have such a strong distaste for manual labor

Yeah, that's what my solo sorcie did...Unloaded five or six SkullTraps in the room...Instant death...
Try making one mage invisible and give them a Wand/Spell of Cloudkill or Deathfog, unload the spell and quickly close the door, do this a couple of times, until they are weak, then clean the rest up.
BTW, why are you using a crossbow? You should dual-wield...

Well, I don't want to put any monsters, mainly Chak, on him. I dual wielded at the end of the battle (just beat them) with DragonSlayer and Arbain's Short Sword.

Three Skull Traps (Spell Sequencer, anyone?) just about finish the whole group. :D
