Questions about Ranger

Post by elephantman »

Downstairs of the thieves guild is the only option of talking to Aran is agreeing to do the tasks?

How about Pelanna the thief who trains the others? Worth killing?

Who is worth pick pocketing? there are so many characters i just want to pick the good ones.

I have a ranger cabin in the umar hills. but they say you need to find a druid spirit and he will give you a quest that takes place back at the temple ruins. i finished killing the black dragon but i haven't gotton to meet the druid and complete the mithril quest.

Do i need to talk to gaelan again about seeing imoen. or should i just do aran's task and he will guide me?

Are there any good +3 katanas?

If you're talking the Aran, then you should do the tasks.

Don't attack anyone in the guild or someone very, very mean by the name of Gath will get you. Think you can take him? Just try it :)

There is not much worth Pickpocketing in the guild. Aran has a couple items that are worth taking, but make sure you don't mess up, or... well let's just say thieves don't like being robbed.

Don't know anything about Ranger quests

Don't worry about Gaelan. Steal everything you want from the guy upstairs and then forget about it. coo!

Yes, there is a really good +3 katana
May you walk on warrrrm sannd....

The only one I know that is worth pickpocketing is Ribald for his ring of regeneration.

Pickpocketing:

Ribald in Adventurer's Mart - Ring of Regeneration

Lord & Lady Ophal in the Promenade - potions, gems, & money

Lady Nim in Copper Coronet - Pearl necklace, ruby ring, & random item

Samual Thunderburp in Five Flagons - potions & money

Lord Feveron in Bridge District - high-level scroll and gems/money

Tolgerias in Government building - Ring of the Ram

Guards in Promenade/Government District - Gems, potions or money, sometimes have a high-level scroll (7th level or better)

There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

The druid spirit will come to you at one point when you're in the Umar Hills.

After you save Umar Hills from the Shade Lord you are asked to become the new protector of Umar Hills. If you accept, you are given the Ranger cabin as your very own.

The Quest Begins:

A few days later, the spirit of the forest will approach you and complain of destruction that is taking place in the forests near the old temple. Once again, the Temple Ruins area.

You will meet Lord Igen Tombethen, who will only speak to your main character. After speaking with him, you learn that he is looking for a lost stash of Mithiril that his ancestor, Idras Tombelthen's journal mentioned. At this point you can just demand he leaves and engage in battle, however I would suggest agreeing to find it for him if he stops his destruction.

Search to the East. This area is guarded by a few skeletons, dispatch them and look in one of the rock outcroppings, you will find a note and a Mithril amulet. Retrieve these and return to speak with Igen.

Here is where a bit of decision-making comes into play. You can:

A) Tell Igen you have recovered the Amulet and he will give it to you for 1000 gold.

B) Decline and give it to him for free, or demand 2000 gold.

If you try and drive the price up he will only offer 500 gold. You can either give it up, or fight him and his party, thus saving the forest and keeping the loot. Its just a matter of your alignment.

* Note that the vendor in the Umar hills offered me 0 gold for it. This may just be the one vendor, or perhaps it is better to take the 1000 gold and run.

Return to your cabin in the Umar hills and the druid spirit will thank you for saving the forest and you will recieve 21.5k experience points.

Some time after you've saved the forest, you will receive word (from a boy named Donovan I believe) that the town in the Umar Hills is under attack by monsters, and they need your help. Go to the Umar Hills and talk to the Mayor. He will tell you that the monsters are located in a cave on the North side of the river, and a child is missing. Go to the cave where you should have gotten the mimics blood the first time you were in the Umar Hills. Outside the cave there are a few Orogs and Orcs that will attack you. Go inside the cave and you will find Madulf (the friendly Ogre) with the boy. Speak to Madulf and get your experience for completing the quest.

Again, some time later, the same boy will find you and inform you that the town is threatened again. This time the Umar Witch has shown up and has said that if all of the townspeople don't leave within a few days that they will be killed. Go to the town and talk to the Mayor and he will flesh out the story and tell you that the Witch has set up base in the old Temple Ruins. Go to the Shade Lord Dungeon. The Druid spirit will be outside the entrance. She will tell you what you already know (the Umar Witch is inside). Upon entering you will be attacked by zombies. Go to your right and there will be a Demon of some sort to fight. Proceed to room 4 (where the sun gem was). On the way there, zombies and skeletons will attack, and they will continue to respawn. In room 4 you will find an evil Cleric with a Mephit. It turns out she is an impostor and not too tough either. Kill her and proceed outside. Talk to the druid spirit to receive your experience.

I am not sure of the experience point totals for the quests. But I believe they were both ~20,000 + kills, so they are worth the time.

Hope it helps.

All rangers are of Good alignment. So just what choice are we supposed to make?

Who says you need to fight the guards to get good loot? All you need to do is pick pocket them and get a high level scroll like Simulacrum or Spell Trap.
I saved Suldanesellar from destruction, and all I got was this stupid amulet.
