Are you in Wanev's summoning chambers?
If so, I think the heart has to be taken to a brazier near the entrance to the the chambers and used. If this is succesful, the portal should collapse in an explosion (like from a fireball spell).
You could also check with Wanev to see if he is happy that the quest is finished.
