Patch v1.4 - Ancient Tombs major bug
Patch v1.4 - Ancient Tombs major bug
Hi all,
Like most of you encountered, I`m presently in the presence of a major bug when I step on the Tomb in Glim Gardens of Myth Drannor and that the floor start to collapse. Are we allowed to dowload the Patch v1.4 once the game is already started? If so, How do we install it to make it work?
From a RPG Hero who just happen to be a Zero when it concerns computer problems lolllllll. Anxious to hear from someone soon.

I downloaded it after I started but as I said previously I have had more problems since installing it than I had before. For instance just a few minutes ago I was playing and the game shutdown for no reason. This is really annoying when you have failed to save recently. It also says things that are completely out of context or make no sense at all. My advice would be to skip the patch unless you really need it. Maybe some of the other people can offer better advice though.

Geezer,
My problem is, like I said in my post note, that I can't explore the Ancient Tombs because as soon as I step on the entrance, I can see it collapse but when my pc start to download the Ancient Tombs, my game crash. That's why I am asking if I can dowload and install the patch to repair this problem at this stage of the game or do I need to download and install before I install the game. I am not in the mood to start all over again. Can you help me?
rmemmett84,
I dowloaded the patch and my pc still crash after the entrance collapse. Do you have the step by step dowload/install instruction for me?
P.S.
If their is no mandatory quest or items to pick-up in the Ancient Tombs, I will just avoid it but my curiosity will be disappointed though.

Sorry, but I didn't read that into your first post. And I should have told you before, I downloaded all of the patches after I started And only ran into 2 major headaches...First is the game crashes frequently once I get into the Lower Keep and the Cellars and Prison, but I save frequently and managed to beat the game a couple of times... Second is Room 4 in the Prison..that's a real challenge! When you get there and have problems let me know...And there is some good stuff in the Tomb but no game stoppers..

Yeah, I also downlaoded the patch after I started. The collapse worked ok in my game before the patch though. But as Geezer said it does crash alot in the catacombs so I recommend saving anytime you do something you don't feel like redoing. I don't however remember what is down there but like you curosity would kill me if I couldn't find out.

Hmmmmmm!!!!!
Let's try to write this another way. I cant even explore the ancient tombs because the game crash as soon as I step on the entrance in the Glim Gardens.
What's the proper way to download and install the patch???
I need the step-by-step instruction.
Thank you U2 for the info you gave me so far but I am afraid that if I cant install this path properly I will have to skip the tombs

@Kromm1000, please avoid using caps lock on long sentences. I'ts offensive, and really not good to look at. I've edited your post and removed the "name" you gave to the update.
Now, regarding your problem, I've installed the path with no problems on that specific area. But I had a similar problem on the first dungeon. Every time it tried to load, the game would crash - with the path installed. I've re-installed the game and it worked fine with me.
Copy your savegame folder, uninstall the game, re-install it and try again with/without the path. Also, the path is meant to be extracted on your Pool of Radiance folder - I'll try to get more info on that for you.

Many thanks Luis and sorry for the emotional moments lolllllll. I will try as you mentioned and see if it works. Like I said in my first message, I am not too good at computer stuff (download, install, file folders). Do not hesitate to put any details you think that would help me. When you say to copy my saved game folder, where do I find it and where do I copy it?

Ok Krom... let me see if this helps you:
Double click My Computer
Select the drive where you installed PoR RoMD
Now, depending on where have you installed the game, you may have a different configuration. But, per default, the game install in one of the "program files" directories. My path is:
E:\Arquivos de programas\SSI\Pool of Radiance
Try performing a search on your hard drive for directories with "Pool of Radiance", it may be easier for you to find.
Now, open Pool of Radiance folder, and search for the "savegames" folder.
Now, copy it to a directory that's easy for you to access. (To copy you can just click and drag with your left mouse button or use the tools provided on MS explorer, in the upper part of the window).
For example, copy it to your "My documents" folder.
Now uninstall your game via the windows start menu.
Reboot your computer.
Insert the cd 1 and start normal instalation.
After you've finished the install:
-If you still wish, install the update files. (change the instalation path to your PoR RoMD path.)
-Go to the directory you've copied those files to, and repeat the proccess, just taking care to copy it to inside your "Pool of Radiance" folder.
Presto! Run the game.
And, belated, welcome to Gamebanshee! Check our other forums for whatever you need.

Hi Luis,
Bad news!!!!
I followed the instructions you gave me and guess what?? Still crashing as soon as I step on the entrance. Maybe I forgot a step somewhere. Once my game was reinstalled, I dowloaded and installed Patches 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 into my PoR folder. I then unzipped, executed and extracted them.I will try to reboot and run the game once more. If you can think of anything that I forgot to do, can you or anybody please let me know.

Hi there Kromm,
Have you executed the updates that are inside your folder? The name of the file in my folder is BAP Installer. Run it and load the game again.
The game is very good, the only really annoying problem with it is the number of bugs. But, to discuss why do they happen is something better let for the programmers.

Hi again Luis,
I can't find that file in PoR folder. Here's what I have in that folder.
The 2 main files Data and Savegames. And all these:
por_patch12, setup.exe (Pool of RadianceII Installer), binkw32.dll, debug.txt, dsetup32.dll, dsetup.dll, FileNames.txt, FileNameUtil.exe, Keymap.txt, Mss32.dll, mstast.cfg, Pool13patcheng.exe, Pool14patcheng.exe, pool11.exe, poolins.cev, por2main.exe, por_patch11.zip, por_patch12.zip, readme.txt, RTserverdll.dll, sfDat.dat, texture.err
Not sure if it can help, but at least we will have tried all we could.
thank you very much for your patience and help.

Hi Luis,
We are now 1 step further. I was not extracting to my SSI/PoR folder. but now it is done. I ran the BAP. installer for patch 1.3 and 1.4 But I still have the same problem. Any suggestion of what I should do next?
lollll if u were not so far I would ask you to fix it yourself.

Kromm,
The game should work 100% now.. have you executed the BAP installer? My game wont have problems after that...
Are you buffing your party? Have you got all the keys? It should not be bugged... to your chars level up when they go to the castle sequence? (leveling up is very very bugged).

Patch v1.4 - Ancient tomb major bug
Hi Luis,
I didn't go back to check-out if the other bugs mentioned in patch 1.4 were fixed cause i am not even sure there was other bugs. Yes, I did executed the patch with the BAP.installer file for 1.3 and 1.4 patches. Wondering if that have something to do with XP windows.
Still waiting for a reply from Ubisoft support technicians. If you know a specific place of another bug in the game let me know and I will go back and see if the patch work there.
