HotUhelp-spoiler needed
I'm trying to defeat the Maker on the 3rd level of his ruins but I keep getting killed without really doing him any damage-any suggestions on how to defeat him or what works best in damaging him? Thanks-I'm a Paladin by the way.

Go to the Drow enchanter in the drow encampment. Get all the buffs the weapon can get and then go beat him. If you got 14 wisdom, get all your damage on weapon spells and cast them on it. The maker should be much easier.

First you should return to Temple of Lolth and hire either Valen (weapon master) and/or Nathyrra (mage/assasin) since you can have two henchmen in HotU. I don't remember if Nathyrra has a sword usable only by assasins that deal additional damage against undead or you should find that sword by yourself by that point but equip her with it.
In City Core you can find smith who can boost abilities of your existing weapon (higher attack/dmg bonus, elemental dmg, keen ability, regeneration etc.) for reasonable amount of gold.
For actual battle I suggest you put your Pal Smite Evil (if you take CoT Prestige Class Divine Wrath is also good) ability to good use. You should also cast either Bless Weapon (+1 to attack and 2d6 dmg against undead) or Holly Sword (make your sword in Holly Avenger) on all combatants and Magic Circle against Allighment (Evil) prior to battle (all those spells are on your Paladin Spell List).
Hope this will help.
