No matter what 2 characters I have with me, they usually just stand around while I'm in combat. No matter what script I use for them, they don't seem to do anything unless they have a direct line of sight to the enemy. Case in point; I was in Daviks base with Canderous and Carth and I'd walk into a room. They were just outside the door, I'm just inside. An enemy guard would start firing and I'd return fire all by myself. The other two blokes would still be outside the room just standing around.
Is there something I should be doing or is this a bug?

Well I think that it isn't a bug. The npc's are pretty dumb on this game though. Depends though, On xbox or p.c?

On the PC version the AI does a better job of moving in to attack... but like other said, no matter which version you play, you should micromanage your characters yourself.
If you're playing on Hard or Medium difficulty you have to micro.
Select the proper offensive Feats, Force powers, and/or grenades, use stimulants and healing items, and move any Scoundrels you have into a position where they can attack from behind, etc etc.
