SoU - Way too easy

Post by Shillelagh631 »

So...I don't know what's up. I got through the original NWN and moved on to SoU, which is really engaging in terms of storyline, but in no way challenging in terms of combat. Right now I'm a 16th level sorc/1st dragon disciple, and obviously fighting kobolds and gnolls should be no sweat, but all the opponents that should be challenging are the same deal. Every single creature I've encountered has a challege rating of Effortless and gives me 5 exp, and needless to say I'm getting a little bored. Is it just this easy in the early stages of SoU (I've only gotten to killing J'Nah so far) for new players to get their land legs or is this just going to be a cakewalk, and will increasing the difficulty help or just let me blow up my party members with fireballs? Help before I kick things.

You're supposed to start the module with level 1 character.....

As Jaypee says: SoU is made for a new character - I think this is even descriped in the manual.
So by going through the game with your OC NwN character you do make it very easy. If starting with a Level 1 character - I actually found SoU more challenging then OC NwN.

As Xandax said, you need to start a new character to fully enjoy your SoU experience. OC and SoU are independent games from one another. SoU and HoU are actually linked, however, And you'll want to import your SoU character into HoU. As a rule, SoU is probably a bit more challenging than the NwN official campaign. HoU gets a bit easier still, as you gain such phenomenal power in it.

That sucks. So much for continuing the adventure with the hero of Neverwinter.

I figured I was just being obtuse.

I'll always recommend that the first play through SoU is with a new character, as was intended, otherwise you miss out on much imo.

If you are then planning on HotU, then you can either run through it againg with your NwN character before importing into HotU, although iirc, it will only give you 1-2 levels near the end-game of HotU and one might as well console command them in, incase it is needed that bad :)

The game-play story is that NwN and SoU takes place sometime close to each other and HotU is the follow up of SoUs character storyline (although something is missing in between, but I belive a usermade module has "made" that story).
