Dark Jedi vs. Sith Lord

Post by slapandtickle »

One of the things I miss in KOTOR2 (besides an involving storyline) is the dark jedi encounters. There seemed to be more strategy involved when going up against these guys...especially before you became a jedi yourself. But even after, you could use force breach, force immunity to 'duel' a fellow force wielder.
Anyway, what's the difference between a dark jedi and a sith lord or sith marauder? I went through the last part of the game using force confusion on all the sith lords I found and I rarely saw a chain of lightning or wave of insanity cast. I certainly never had it cast on me but then again, by the time I met anyone, I was able to mop the floor with their little sith robes. Is there a big difference between the two gameplay wise or storywise?

just be glad they dont use force breach followed by force crush on you, since it renders you immobile even when you save.

that would be cool. because then you'd need to use strategy.
each sith lord would be a mini boss.

dark jedi are wimps and sith lords are 1 step higher just like your character would be with the prestige class...the reason they don't use force powers is mainly the star wars movies....setting aside dooku how often do you see a dark jedi annihilate a jedi with the force...not often...they both just whip out a saber and go at it hence that is how it works in kotor2

is this guy joking? try playing as a sith lord, and try not to feel too humbled by your puny light sabre skills when you can kill anything without them getting within 5 metres. light sabre is fun and looks cool, but sith lords own in this game.

gotta agree with you there, they have pretty much unlimited force points as well. I dont think I ever ran out as Sith Lord, always stayed above 50% force points and I had close to 700, even with multiple master hels with no charisma modifyer to decrease the cost of the light side power.

I didn't say they should be using their sabers i was explaining why they are, this is about npc sith lords you fight not you being a sith lord also....with my sith lord any fool who got within range got blasted or force crushed obviously...i'm simply pointing out that jedi vs sith fights tend to be light saber duels...talk to GL about it not me heh

They screw up force powers completly in both KotoR games. Most of the powers are insanly powerful (DS powers especialy) while they made Force Immunity useless (you need to succed on DC of 15 + opponents level with d20 roll +your level). If Force Lightning work as it should (opposed roll adding your level to d20) you would have equal chance that your power don't work (which is case in movies - out of 5 uses of Force Lightning 3 were unsuccesful) you would be forced to use lightsaber in duel agains other Jedi.

Beside remember the line Count Dooku said to Yoda before they draw lightsabers: "I see we have an equal understanding of the Force. We should resolve this with our lightsabers." (If anyone has exact quote fell free to correct me)

There is also a line from a NJO novel: "If I can summon it (force ligtning), I can difuse it." which would mean that any offensive force power you can summon you can easily difuse and make harmless when someone uses it against you (opposite also apply) so you are stuck to lightsaber against other Jedi - Force powers are only usefull against non-Jedi.

I just hope they apply this to next game - it would made a game a lot more chalenging if you can only use your lightsaber against other force users.

Well yes ripe you are correct on that. Force powers should prove usless against jedi/sith. I think that you should only use your'e light saber against jedi. I mean here we go, Count Dukuoo (what ever) v.s Darth Vader: Oh! One Force lightning strom and Dukuoo is out!!!

Not much strategy needed, since force crush affects only one guy you can sik your allies on the opponent.
the shots ring out, whenever we clash
its star wars. uh,
we call it star wars.
what happens when the shots ring out,
its called star wars.

I understand what ur sayin about the Sith lords havin basically unlimited force energy.

Heres a tip for ur if u didnt already no. on Korriban in that weird cave that u have to go into on ur own u will find a room with a corpse in the middle of it and when u click on the corpse u will b attacked by 2 hissis (thats probly not how it spelled). if u keep clickin on the body without attackin the hissis then more an more will come till u have bout 20 in the room.

All u do now is lightnin them till they fry. an if u have death field then whenever u get low on health u can just restore it with one of these an because u never run out of force u can do this as long as u like an just watch ur levels go up : )

Hope this helps at least sum 1 but u all probly no it ne way
the dark side lives in all of us. Use it how you wish
