Best Level 9 Sorc Spells?

Post by DasBeste »

Hey, taking my sorc through hordes (imported him from NWN), and i've gotten through the first chapter (wahoo!) Hordes is pretty awesome, and i've just gotten my first couple of level 9 spells. Picked Time Stop for my first one, and Weird for the second one, but pretty unsure on what i should get next, or if i should replace Weird with wail of the banshee, or even bother with some of them (meteor storm seems useless if i already have horrid wilting, and is summon creature 9 really worth it?). So, anyone else with a high powered sorc, tell me what their ideas for a good loadout on lv 9 spells is.

Time Stop would be my first choice as well.... it is nice to have.
"Wail of the Banshee" is also one of my personal favorites, but my experience with L9 spells pretty much were confined to using Time Stop because it is so valurable in my view.

At that level I didn't use other summons then Modernkins Sword (sp?), so I wouldn't really know if Summon IX was worth it.

Shapechange for me was mostly for laughs, but I only dabbled with the Dragon change, so don't know how usefull the other forms are - but it is fun. (and afterall - this game is supposed to be fun :D )

Are you sure you don't mean Black blade of disaster? Since Mordekainen's sword is a 7th level spell. :) The black blade can only be damaged by non physical attacks and will go away if your concentration gets disturbed.

Since you have Weird and Timestop, I'd probably go with Black Blade of Disaster (it's a solid summoning spell, that will help you in melee matters). Personally, I found it more useful than Gate or Summon Creature at that level. Likewise, if you want another big area effect spell, I liked Meteor Swarm fairly well.

Bigby's Crushing Hand. It works on almost anyone, even those with stacks of immunities, every single time.

I'd add, I found this spell very useful as well. So if its the type of spell you're looking for, its fairly effective.
