"gray" Jedi

Post by Alexander »

What must I do to become neutral Jedi? I've read threads on this forum from the players that think gray Jedi is better than regular (Dark or Light) and I want to try beat game with neutral. What is your advice? Can I use only universal powers or both light and dark? And what about the quests?
Thanks.

Neutral Jedi can use both light and dark side powers as well as universal powers. However, they will suffer a penalty on both light and dark side spells due to a mild alignment mismatch.

In addition the secret tomb on Korriban cannot be entered if you are absolutely neutral, and I believe you cannot advance in a prestige class if you are neither light or dark. Not sure about that one though. :)

Being LS or DS doesn't prevent you from chosing (or casting) power of opposite allighnment - the only difference is how many Force Points that power costs: Each power cost a certain number of FP which increase/decrese as you become strongly allighned Light Powers cost lest and Dark Powers cost more a LS Jedi and reverse is true for DS. So if you play neutral you will not have that bonuses or penalties.

How to play neutral Jedi is relativly complicated - you must avoid getting either LSP or DSP so in conversations you try to figure which line would give LSP, which would give DSP so you can choose the third option. Problem is sometimes you will get in a situation where you will get either point so you will have to do something to even out becase I belive that game consider you neutral only if meter is at a center of the column.

I wouldn't recommend the neutral path the first time through. There are a few things of note that you might end up missing out on. Still, I think its definitely worth some experimentation in subsequent playthroughs. You should be able to use dark and light force powers with no penalties (but at the same token, no bonuses).

Your best bet to keep the neutral path is to recognize the game isn't configured that way. So, you'll have to make an equal number of DS and LS choices. I imagine this will get complicated at point. So just monitor it closely. There are so many alignment shifts possible in the game, I imagine you'll be able to steer it back if you ever go too far one way

There are a couple neutral geared items- Jolee's Robes, Grey Jedi Robes. Then, as another thread pointed out, the neutral jedi "named" crystal has some fairly impressive stats at its later incarnations.
