Right, you need influence. If your influence is high enough, you have to do the following:
With, Handmaiden you need to beat her in several sparring matches (these can be done at certain levels). Eventually, you'll find out from Kreia that her mother was a Jedi. After those two thing, the option will become availabe.
With Atton, you need to visit Nar Shadda. In the Refugee sector, one of the Twi'Lok will come up to you (regardless of whether Atton is in your party) and offer you information on Atton for some credits. Pay the credits and learn a tid bit about Atton. Later, talk to Atton about it. You'll have an exhaustively long conversation, at the end of which he'll ask you to train him.
With Mira you need to talk to her about Nar Shadda. Eventually, you can offer to show her what Kreia showed you about the city. If your influence is high enough, she'll agree. You'll return to Nar Shadda and show her the interconnectedness of life in the city. At that point, she'll agree to be trained.
With Bao-Dur, you've got to gain influence with him. So stick him in your party and take him places. Eventually he'll start talking to you about Malachor V an dhis remorse of that place. This leads into his transformation.
