Help a newbie - Mage ?

Post by joe05 »

Guys, did I screw up :-)
I'm currently at level 6 fighter, but it seems I can't use my level 1 mage powers.
the manual says I start as Mage1 ?
I added the armor from the giant skels at the beginning, and would like to buy some spells from Fell etc...
I'd like to merge my character into fighter/mage and gradually become stronger as a mage.
It says to copy the rune into my spell book, but I see no copy button whe I R-Click on the armor.
Did I mess up somewhere ... misread the manual ?
How do I start to access my Mage1 capabilities and thus progress in that category.
I'd like to buy some offensive spells at Fell to start to upgrade my Mage level, but it seems I'm not even a level one mage ?
Unless I did errored somewhere, or misread the manual = I'm confused
Could you please help me out here.

I believe you actually start the game as a Fighter. You'll need to find someone to train you in the ways of a mage . The first NPC who can teach you in the ways of the mage is Mebbeth in Ragpicker's square. She'll have a couple small quests for you to do prior to being able to take that path. After that, Dak'Anon (sp?) will allow you to go from Fighter to Mage at will (meaning, he can help you resume training in either profession).

What I can't remember is if you have to be in "Mage" mode to use your mage spells and memorize spells. I think you do.

You'll have a couple of followers who can switch you between mage and fighter mode, and between thief and fighter mode. Once you've learned the appropriate professional skills, just selecting certain dialog options is all you need to switch careers. (It's something like, "I'd like to walk the path of a fighter, again.")
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
