Screen shots problem

I've downloaded a screen shot and switched it to jpg format, but I still can't open it with Microsoft Photo Editor. It keeps saying it can't get a handle from IFL. ANy ideas on what I can do about this?
We should get a move on lest Boo bite us all in hard to reach places!
