Error on Going Upstairs in the Mortuary

When I try to go upstairs in the Mortuary, the game stops when it tries to save, then crashes to desktop and gives this message: ""A Assertion has failed in D:\Torment\Source\baldur\InfGame.cpp at line 6301". I am running Windows XP, and I have downloaded the fan patch. Any advice on how to fix it?

Oh, and I'm using the 2 CD set, if that helps.
