*Spoiler* Finishing the game without all of the star maps

Post by Danno16 »

I purposefully didn't get the starmap on Dantooine saving it for last thinking that maybe I could prevent Dantooine from being destoyed so soon. When we get taken aboard the Leviathan Saul Karath tells us that Dantooine has been destroyed. At this point I'm worried that without the Dantooine starmap I won't be able to finish the game, but I played it out anyway. When I get the final remaining starmap it acts like it is the last one even though the Dantooine starmap has not been retrieved. I just thought this was interesting. I then went on to finish the game with no problems. Has anyone else noticed this? Is this a bug? What are your thoughts on this?

Thank you,

Danno, the problem isn't that people want to refuse help. They (including me) simply haven't done what you did. I played through the game twice, once each on the Xbox and PC, and I know I looked for the starmap as soon as I could.

But if you do miss the first starmap and the planet's destroyed, it only makes sense that the developers would either

1) Provide some alternative quest that provided the same result, or
2) Ignore that piece of the starmap, altogether.

Shoddily done on their part, but hey, the whole game is dumbed down from their quest-building efforts in BG2, where everything had to make good sense.

How were you able to travel to the other planets before retrieving Dantooine's Star Map?

...That's a bit of a hole in the game there. You're not supposed to really know about those planets before the Star Map...

But if you know nothing of the Star Maps, how are you likely to know that you have to travel to those places to track down more Star Maps in order to find the origins of the Sith fleet?

uh,its not cheating, just using droids to the best of my abilities =D

I always get the star map there first(for the heck of it)do most of the stuff, than when it gets destroyed I find it fun to use the galaxy droid, though I was lucky I saved right before going anywhere, since my account on that round of the game went 2 ways, since I went to Taris first, you cant get off so that was my goof-off-and-own-the-planet part and the other I used for dantooine to continue to keep such an awesome planet alive and kickin =P

maybe the Force guided him to the other planets and when asking about star maps you don't know about the force guides your words.

Well you see the council ahas alreadu assigned you that mission and so you can't just give it up or throw it away.

But the council said they didn't know what was in those ruins, they didn't know about the Star Maps until you came back and told them all about it. Thats when they sent you in search of the other 4 Star Maps.

So basically there is NO way you could know about those planets before finding the Dantooine Star Map. Oh well, games full of stuff like that I guess!

I guess that they never figured someone would refuse a quest from the Jedi Council itself...heh.

Anyway, power to ya if you can get it done...it is a rather odd place for a hole, though...unexpected situations are what always get you.

Thanks for all of your responses... I've been playing KOTOR 2 so much that I haven't taken the time to go back & try it again in KOTOR 1. When I do I'll post to this thread again with the particulars of how/what I did.

Its still possible not to find the DANT starmap and bump into the other ones accidentally.

Anyways, the order I did them in was:

Dantooine
Kashyk
Korriban
Tatooine
Manaan
