Some advice please!?

Post by Last Beetle »

Hello, I seek some advice for reforming my party! My main character is a ranger/cleric and I really like Minsc! Who else should I et in my party? I am good aligned and I have a reputation of 17... Is it ok to get some evil characters like Edwin and Korgan? And which mage is indispensable? Should I go for Edwin, Nalia, Jan or Imoen?! I think Edwin is good but he is Evil!

Well, I've played Ranger/Cleric before, and I was alright in having Edwin in my team.

My team was primarily Good, I was Lawful Good.. and I had a few neutrals like Jan. But I was also able to get Edwin in my team (also in another game when I was an Archer!). So yeah.. Edwin is the best, without doubt. I mean, gosh.. by the end of ToB, Edwin had memorised 75+ spells!!!

Other good characters are:
Keldorn (if u are really lacking firepower)
Mazzy (for ranged)
Anomen (but then again, u are a cleric, but he's a good fighter too!)
Aerie (Mage/Cleric)

Hope that helps.

Hey, thnx!

But what about KORGAN? He is chaotic evil I believe... so won't he leave my party because he's unhappy? And if I get Edwin or Korgan won't my reputation decrease?
And should I get rid of Jaheira? She doesn't seem to be a good fighter and her druid spells are so-so...

Just don't let your rep get above 17 and you should be ok, just a bunch of whining
"Come on, let's go whack something eeeeeeeeevil!"

"Faster than Chiktikka FastPaws!"

The first game I played, I was a Kensai, nad my group consisted of myself (obviously), Minsc, Jahiera, Yoshimo (later Imoen), Haer'Dalis and Aerie. However, now I'm running a Sorceror, and I find that with all the spells that I can cast myself, Aerie is kind of useless. My group now consists of myself, Keldorn, Jahiera, Yoshimo (again, later Imoen) and Haer'Dalis. I find these people to be the most usefull for my style of playing. However, my style may be totally different from everyone else's.

"I think Ediwin is god, but he's evil"?
Man you must be confused!

Anyway, my current party is a Kensai (me) Minsc, Jahira, Nalia (plan to switch for Imoen later), Vicciona and Jan.

Hey Dastal, why are you going to switch from Nalia to Imoen later on in the game? Won't she be WAY behind in experience????
 But maybe I overlooked something...? Is she a better thief or mage than Nalia?

Anyway I am planning to form my party as following: me Ranger/cleric, Minsc, Korgan, Yoshimo(later Nalia), Aerie (later Edwin) and Jaheira (maybe later Haer'Dalis?).

But PLEASE... can ANYONE tell me the advantages of Jaheira? I don't like her fighting abilities and I think she's SO weak!!! But I would feel so bad just dumping her... :o

Got it?! Edwin God?!

I didn't get him yet! (meaning: I didn't MEET him yet so I don't HAVE him in my party yet!!!)

Next time I'll try to draw it out for you so I hope you'll finally understand me?! ;)

Won't that disable her druid spells? And what weapon do you give her to fight? Because I don't think that her fighting skills are all that!?!
I've given her Belm +2 but I still think she's a weak fighter!

Nah, Druids (and Clerics for that matter) can wear armour and retain their spell-casting ability.

And so can Mages later in the game as soon as you discover other items of armour.....

imoen is better than nalia because-
higher theif skills before dual to mage
much less annoying war cry-"for the needy!"

the only advantage nalia has is her family ring which gives her extra spells.

jaheira is second best tank in the game, with only saverok or korgy as better....

think greater whirlwind and greater elemental trnsform! massive damege and spunky attitude in one package! Also she is fun to travel with. if the dialog options permit in the harper plot sequence, crack jokes with her, and she is too cool.

She does real well with aegirs hide armor. or gorgon plate. Aegirs hide armor gives her some important immunities to confusion, I think, and I give korgy red dragon plate for healing flames trick, and gorgon plate is just super. usually reserve gorgon for viccy.

final party

spell heavy and cleric heavy

me-uber sorc
jaheira
aerie
viccy
korgy
yoshimo-imoen

how to keep korgan and aerie in same party?

I used control-i to run thru the dialogs, and found if you let

korganaeriegrump get to value 2 she makes leaving noises, so I set to 0, she hasn't complained yet.

try it, its kinda funny.

Korgan is not as fun as I thought, have hopes he picks more on imoen.

What about Minsc and Edwin? I read somewhere that they don't work together?! How do I keep both of them in my party?! The thing you did with Aerie... is it enough to do it once or does the value change again through the game?!

Don't hesitate to mix alignements in your party - it makes for funny dialogues.

Your PC already has both clerical and druidic spells but I would still go for a second healer. May I suggest Anomen? A very nice dual class, IMO.

Jan is a must! The funniest NPC alongside with Minsc and I also hold him as the most useful NPC - great thief who also doubles as a specialist mage.

Edwin is the "most" mage because of his many spells. I'd recommend him.

If you try to line up what kind of party you're looking for, I'll be happy to give you some suggestions.
