PCI Video Card Suggestions

Post by Faust »

My knowledge of video cards is next to none. I recently bought a harddrive from Dell with an Integrated Extreme Graphics (Intel) card. The big problem with it is that it only has OpenGL up to 1.3. As such, I'm beginning to realize if I want to play certain games like KotoR2, I'm going to have to upgrade. The bad news - I don't have either an AGP or PCI Express slot. Anyone have any recommendations (preferably "budget ones") for a good PCI video card. I don't even know where to start shopping or what to be looking for, really.

Thanks in advance for any help!

The 5700LE is the best PCI video card. If it's out of your range, get the 9250 PCI or the 5200/5500 PCI.

Even with the best PCI graphics cards I doubt you'll be able to play KotOR II.. the bandwith is just too small.

Really? Well, that is unfortunate. I assumed that a 32MB, OpenGL 1.4 compliant card would do the trick. Oddly, I didn't have any trouble playing the first one on the system, although it required OpenGL 1.4 as well. Well, that's dissappointing, I guess I need to figure out how much X-Box's are going to run, if I'm going to keep having this issue...stupid Dell box without an AGP port...
