Icewind Dale 2 Lagg!?

In a week or so I chose to reinstall IWD2. I had been like half a year since last time I played it.
My problem is Im experiencing real lagg. Especially when having summons or several spells up, like grease, web or bless...

I need to know WHY it laggs like this: Last time I played the game (as mentioned half a year ago) there were no lagg at all (and with exactly the same computer). I have p4 2hgz , 512 mb ram , geforce ti4200 so I really cant understand why Im experiencing this lagg.

I have tried to set graphics down to near minimum, and that helps, but of course I want to use the best graphical settings, especially since my computer shouldnt have any trouble with that!

So, I really need hints, tips or whatever, cause I want to play this game without the lagg (and without having to use the worst graphics).

Defrag your hard drive and scan for viruses, adware and spyware.

Shutting down other running process which might take up CPU time as well could help.

Been there done that... Its only a day since my last virus scan and adware scan. Defragged last week.

and Xandax: when I check which process uses the most CPU, IWD2 uses like 95-99 %... I have the minimum of processes up when playing too, and the other processes use max 1-2 %...

So, either my computer is full of crap (that neither the virus or the adware scan finds) or something must be wrong with my CPU...

Maybe its time for formatting

Try - in the task manager - and watch the memory usage as well. If you use loads of memory it might be a problem with your RAM.
It might be due to haveing to swap often which could cause bottlenecks.

Besides - it isn't as much how much CPU the process uses, when you view them, but more the number of process as well. Shifting between process even if they don't use much CPU time is still one of the most "costly" things in computing.
