I accidentally saved after Virgil died, and now I'm stuck with a gunslinger who needs constant healing. Is there a character hanging around that I can convince to join me who will replace Virgil's healing skills?
PS I tried to resurrect Virgil, but by the time i bought a scroll (which I'm not sure would have worked anyway) and went back to his lifeless corpse, all that was left was a pile 'o junk.
Thanks for any suggesstions!
I need a new Virgil!

You can get a healing robot once you reach Caladon. Until then I think you're stuck with healing salves and the like.

Sir Edmund: "Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?"
Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

If your tech meter isn't too high Dante's heal spells still might do the trick.
If your tech meter is high, then you should pick up the herbology disciplines yourself or drag along Jayna. Use the worldmap to make short jumps in forrest areas and keep an eye out for ingredients growing in the dirt. She (or you) can make good healing salves and fatigue restore from found ingredients, and you can buy venom from shops to make cure poison.
If you're relying on bandages you're better off learning the heal skill yourself, its based on the IN stat which technologists generally have a fair bit of and you can train its effectiveness far better than any party npc.

Virgil
Four ways for Virgil:
1. Get the best armor for vigil to keep him alive. Don't let him use the Dread Armor as it has low DR. Early in the game chainmail (DR=23) works good.
2. Get Morgana's Tears he will use to keep him alive.
3. Add Force 1 to you magic protect to both you and virgil
4. Down load level 127 from http://www.sierra.com to beable to add several spell groups included the one that has resurrect for NPC and some Non-NPC. This mod makes it possible to run all skills and many tech build capibility. And set all basic skills to 20. You may still do the blessing quest but if you do not your health and fatigue will be about 270 points if ST, WP, CN are at 20. However the autolevel method did not plan on level 127 but NPC's do as well as before because the mod does not affect any NPC's or the varius creatures.
