Help with final SOA battle! please! (spoilers)

Post by bppny »

I was in the very final battle with irenicus. I defeated his demons (losing 2 of my guys in the battle) and concetrated my attack on him. at some point he turned from the slayer back to his human form and then i walloped him and yet i could not kill him. I whacked him for 20 min and could kill him. The screen kept telling me he was near death, but yet i couldn't kill him. He just stood there taking my punishment and would not die. Unfortunatly I will have to to the battle again cause i lost patience and quit out. But what did I do

My friends told me they encounter something similiar but I am not very sure what happened here.
I think Ire. is quite easy to kill.
Use your mage to cast Breach on him (use truesight to cancell his illusion/phatasm spell ,then just use your warriors to wack him.He should be down by 2 or 3 rounds.

Bppny,

K-Dash is hitting it right on the head. It took me a while to figure it out... He is hiding off the screen somewhere and you are pounding on his illusion. True-Sight should show you where he is and you can then take his sorry a$$ out.
"Think on this, arrogant mageling: even the mightiest archmage has no spells strong enough to let him cheat death. Some take the road of lichdom... a living death. The rest of us find graves, and our dust is no grander than that of the next man. So when next you lord it over some farmer with your fireballs, remember: we all master spells enough to die"

This could be a glitch in the game, the same thing happened to me except it was with the lich in the Sphere. If not you can always run and hide from Irenicus and summon creatures until his spells and protections have ran out.

The first time I faced him, I moved my NPC's out of his sight, and killed the demons, who came after me. then I healed some characters and faced Irenicus. Pierce Magic and Pierce Shields are nice spells to get him. Today I finished SOA... again. This time with these spells, so the fighters could kick his ass. he's not so tough afterall... but you have to try which stategy works the best.

When ever you face any "greater" monster/person, always have a true sight spell ready. Viconia is my #1 illusion fighter. First cast som Def. spells on her and after that, fire off true sight and blade barrier. Because if she dies, my true sight is gone and mages will just stand and laugh at you.

This might also be a Dialog glitch. If I remember correctly, when you get him to almost dead, where a faint breeze will kill him, he initiates dialog with you. If he is under some form of magical silence, it might be preventing him form responding.
