I know we have a lyrics thread, but this is a bit different
This is for those songs that when you hear them... your spine almost tingles and you close your eyes, almost hypnotised by their rhythm, the voice of the singer(s), the instrumentals, the atmosphere they evoke.
I have loved this since the first moment I heard it...
Set the Prairie on Fire
Full, full moon and that same sad nature
I wanna cover every inch of you like ink on paper
Like the blind parade of souls Consumed by religion
I can't wait 'til I get you in that defenseless position
When we set the prairie on fire
we go down to the water, naked and slow
You and me and the heart of desire
We set the prairie on fire
How hard will the wind blow
How far will it go
When the feeling burns down to one solitary color
the velocity of longing, melting into each other
It's a song our fingers play all at once and together
You can bet we never learned it, but we've known it forever
I dreamed that we were flying, carried up from the ashes
Black silhouettes of velvet against the crimson of passion
We can almost hear the echoes from the smoldering meadow
It's the rapture of the angels and the rage of devil
In the cool dusk of horses through the rusted wires of sleep
With our arms around midnight, we're headed for release
we go riding in the wind, we go riding in the dark
go riding, riding
When we set the prairie on fire
we go down to the water, naked and slow
You and me and the heart of desire
We set the prairie on fire
How hard will the wind blow
How far will it go.

.......All those moments ... will be lost ... in time ... like tears in rain.
Metallica's live S&M version of Nothing Else Matters.
That and the theme for Halo, although not a song, the chanting and music is extremely atmospheric.

Mad world from Gary Jules,
When i first heared it on the ending credits of Donnie Darko i was touched by it. I think it had something to do with the combination of a very very good movie. (I didnt link it to the original Tears for Fears version then)
It's been my favorite song for a long time, and i was realy bumped when it suddenly became a big hit here in the Netherlands more then a year later.
Well I'm not sure about making me swoon but just about every Bouncing Souls song gives me a chill. I think that's as close as I get to swooning over music.
"I'll take the stupid one who decided to threaten us, instead of shoot us when he had the chance" - Bao-Dur
How about the Limp Bizkit version of Behind Blue Eyes, pretty good I thought
Transformers the movie theme by Lion gets the old adrenaline going too, those 80's power rocks always do!

Into the west - Annie Lennox
L'arena - Ennio Morricone
The themes from: Star Wars, The Rock and The Rohan theme from Two Towers (especially the part with the norwegian violin known as "Hardingfele")
As you can see, I really like orchestrated film scores. And also most things which includes a lot of violins and/or Trumphets or other wind instuments.
"The Jack" by AC/DC, the live version lyrics though, I've yet to find them written down anywhere unfortunately.
"Implements of Destruction" by Chimaira, It's an instrumental, but it goes from beautiful mellow parts to metal and back and I find it wonderful to listen to.
"Brain Damage" by Pink Floyd
"You can do whatever you want to me." "Oh, so I can crate you and hide you in the warehouse at the end of Raiders?" "So funny, kiss me funny boy!" / *Sprays mace* " I know, I know, bad for the ozone"
You should get the themes from especially Black Hawk Down and Armageddon then, Yeltsu. And all in all, get Hans Zimmer songs.
Aerosmith - Don't want to miss a thing?
I really get a need to march in no specific direction hearing Frank Klepacki's Hell March 2 (from Command & Conquer) at full volume.

I used to have that CD, and it had a similar effect on me.

I have to agree with Ik911 on the conquest to paradise, it is very nice.

I am reorganising my music, so am coming across all kinds of pieces...
Here is another that makes me think "Oh wow.."
Blood of Eden
I caught sight of my reflection
I caught it in the window
I saw the darkness in my heart
I saw the signs of my undoing
They had been there from the start
And the darkness still has work to do
The knotted chord’s untying
They’re heated and they’re holy
Oh they’re sitting there on high
So secure with everything they’re buying
{chorus:}
In the blood of eden
Lie the woman and the man
With the man in the woman
And the woman in the man
In the blood of eden
Lie the woman and the man
We wanted the union
Oh the union of the woman
The woman and the man
My grip is surely slipping
I think I’ve lost my hold
Yes, I think I’ve lost my hold
I cannot get insurance anymore
They don’t take credit, only gold
Is that a dagger or a crucifix I see
You hold so tightly in your hand
And all the while the distance grows between you and me
I do not understand
[chorus]
At my request, you take me in
In that tenderness, I am floating away
No certainty, nothing to rely on
Holding still for a moment
What a moment this is
Oh for a moment of forgetting, a moment of bliss
Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
I can hear the distant thunder
Of a million unheard souls
Of a million unheard souls
Watch each one reach for creature comfort
For the filling of their holes
In the blood of eden
Lie the woman and the man
With the man in the woman
And the woman in the man
In the blood of eden
We wanted the union
Of the woman and the man
In the blood of eden
Lie the woman and the man
I feel the man in the woman
And the woman in the man
In the blood of eden
Lie the woman and the man
I feel the man in the woman
And the woman in the man
In the blood of eden
We’ve done everything we can
In the blood of eden
Saw the end as we began
With the man in the woman
And the woman in the man
It was all for the union
Oh, the union of the woman, the woman and the man.
The blood of eden keeps running through me
Running through my veins
The blood of eden keeps rushing through me
When I’m sure there’s none that remains
The blood of eden keeps running through me
I can feel it in my bones
That blood of eden keeps rushing through me
Taking back what it owns
Peter Gabriel

.......All those moments ... will be lost ... in time ... like tears in rain.
I don't know any other song of this band, but this song gets to me everytime. It isn't often heard in Denmark that I know of and I had great difficulties in tracking it down, but it is just danged good in my view.
Jump, Little Children: Cathedrals.
In the shadows of tall buildings
Of fallen angels on the ceilings
Oily feathers in bronze and concrete
Faded colors, pieces left incomplete
The line moves slowly past the electric fence
Across the borders between continents
In the cathedrals of New York and Rome
There is a feeling that you should just go home
And spend a lifetime finding out just where that is
In the shadows of tall buildings
The architecture is slowly peeling
Marble statues and glass dividers
Someone is watching all of the outsiders
The line moves slowly through the numbered gate
Past the mosaic of the head of state
In the cathedrals of New York and Rome
There is a feeling that you should just go home
And spend a lifetime finding out just where that is
In the shadows of tall buildings
Of open arches endlessly kneeling
Sonic landscapes echoing vistas
Someone is listening from a safe distance
The line moves slowly into a fading light
A final moment in the dead of the night
In the cathedrals of New York and Rome
There is a feeling that you should just go home
And spend a lifetime finding out just where that is
