dell inspiron xps
Does anyone have any experience with this laptop? Are you satisfied with the system and its performance? I am looking to replace my desktop with a reasonable gaming laptop. The XPS is vastly cheaper for me as a canadian than alienware or voodoo, whose shipping and taxes bring their $4000 dollar systems to about $5000.

Depends. According to 3DMark03 scores, the Inspiron XPS with Mobility Radeon 9700 performs on par with desktop 9550/X300s, while the Mobility Radeon 9800 seems to be nearly as fast as a desktop Radeon 9800.

Unpleasant experience with the XPS and Dell's Tech support
I got a XPS a month ago. First problem I encountered is installation of Doom 3 software, after loading the first disc, the cd drive won't pop up allowing me to install the rest of the game. Secondly, after playing games, I had a hard time to shut down the machine, it takes forever to do that, so I have to restart the machine. I tried to contact the Dell Tech over the phone, the operator was not friendly and very impatient and refused to discuss the problems in a gerneral term since I do no have the machine with me at that time. With the money I paid and great expectations I have for the XPS, personally I think the machine sucks. By the way, can anyone help me on the problems I mentioned above. Thanks! Ciao!
