Question reguarding armor.

Hi there guys,

So I just recently bought Arcanum at a swap meet. Fabulous game! I'm having a great time, but I am wondering about something. I am playing a half ogre "magical" melee type and I am having trouble finding armor other than leather. I have gotten some "Charmed" leather but I'd like something a bit tougher, perhaps something in the plate catagory. Do any of you have any suggestions as to where I should look and what I can do? I'd like to avoid machined or tech armors.

Armor

I found armor for the team usually in chests and from the Gypsey Vendor outside of towns. I suggest one player be a force mage and the first spell is force shield. It raises armor class and protection in all warfair. If your a mage consider killing the magic shop clerk in Blackroot and take her robe and staff. Both items are very handy for a mage. Open the chest in her shop and take Dorians Amulet and the other Mage staff. Collect as many Mage staffs as you can for use in caves and buildings. The mana they supply will allow you to cast longer or restore your own mana without using potions.

There are very few places in the game where you're guaranteed to find large armor, and almost all of what you'll find is regular leather armor, which you don't need any more.

There are a few things you can do:

1. Visit all of the optional areas so you can find arcane chests and hopefully find large armor inside.

2. Haunt the gypsies until they offer large armor.

3. Make do until you need to sail to Thanatos. Then a gambler will appear in Black Root. His two half-ogre bodyguards will have basic plate mail, but you'll have to murder them to get it.

Humm, Looks like I will be looking at alot of gypsies till I can get to someplace with large armor. I appreciate the help guys.

You might consider relying more on spells to boost your melee ability through the earth element college's body of stone for protection, and strength of earth. Combined with the morph college's hardened hands and weaken (for enemies).

Body of earth removes any armor you're wearing since its a replacement for/ I believe rings and amulets still remain active though.

With a the half ogre animation you'll look and act a bit like the Thing from fantastic four. The downside is the high intelligence requirement for lots of 'maintains'.

If I'm not mistaken, if you can get yourself into the underground (main) sewers of Tarant you can most probably find yourself large magic plate with a somewhat higher chance.

And I'm talking about the sewer system that can be accessed through the boil or extreme south-west of the city, not the general street. Be warned though that you'll might want to carry a scroll of exiting due the fact that it can really drag if you get stuck in the main sewer system and you'll probably max out your level too...
