Viconia created for bg?

I'm wondering,was Viconia created for the bg games or did she already exist in other stories?

To my knowledge, she has never been mentioned before. Her house (drow clan) is well known from the books about Drizzt by Salvatore, though. Viconia is one of the few survivors.

Question is, how did she survive? If she was a high priestess, she would have been in the chamber with the Matron Mother that Zaknafien killed (He killed all 8 females in the room). If she was just a priestess (not a high one) she could have been else where in the compound.

Is she a noble? If she is, she wouldn't have survived.

if u romance her she will tell the story about how she survived.
IIRC she was to be sacrevised to a god but her brother saved her.
and she escaped her clan and had the flee from the underdark.
For teh whole story get an romance with her

Yeah valas keeps the attackers busy giving viconia a chance to escape,Valas gets turned into a drider and Viconia flees into the surface.
What about the other bg npcs are they all made for the game?

I got the impression that the whole Viconia saga occurred before the fall of House DeVir and was unrelated to that plot. Maybe her escape and the betrayal of the House by her brother is the reason House DeVir fell from Llolth's favor and was defeated by House D'ourden

Is it absolutely necessary to romance Viconia in order she would tell her stories? Or simply having her in the group would prompt her to make comments (especially in the Underdark)?

And yes, House DeVir fell at exactly that time.

In fact, the night Drizzt was born was also the night that his family made the daring strike on House DeVir, five levels above their own. This was attempted(let alone succeeded) because the soon-to-be ninth house had created an exceptional fighting force, thanks to Zaknafien(?), and because House DeVir had not only lost the favor of Lolth, they didn't find out until the attack was already launched! Apparently this is Lolth's little trick when you fall out of favor: The vulnerable are the LAST to know! If Viconia's breaking with Lolth was indeed a shock, and House DeVir tried their hardest to punish her(and her brother), then they may have thought all was forgiven. Naturally, Lolth saw TWO traitors in a short time, and the house was toast. Viconia's age? She was a trained and experienced priestess when the Big D was born.

She's only lv2 when you get her in bg1

.It's probably because she lost most abilities when leaving the underdark.

Viconia has lost all her spell capabilities after her escape from Underdark. She started to whorship a new goddess, Shar, and so is "cursed" by Lolth. So is understandable that she is as weak as an child.

Depends entirely on when you first meet her.

I know she's between 2-6,never higher.
