Hello All,
I am trying to build a PC with as little microsoft software as possible to keep down the costs. I already have the excellent open office, which takes care of most things, but what i am looking for is an open source "Outlook" type software. Something that could store contact details and a calendar which could be edited to add birthdays, tasks etc would be great. I have had a look, but cannot seem to find anything. Can anyone recommend something?
Thanks,
Recoba

I'm currently using a browser called "Firefox."
On their web page is an e-mail client called "Thunderbird", which I've not used personally, but I've heard good things about....

Here's the web site, I'd also recommend Firefox if you've not already found a browser... On XP, there's no way to get rid of IE completely, but you can avoid it like the plague...

I use PocoMail, primarily because it's immune to viruses that trigger using Outlook/IE's script language. It also has excellent anti-spam AI and controls. No calendar, though.

Thunderbird is a great choice, bu it doees not have a calendar per default. I have however heard romours about that there is an extension which handles this. But as I don't use calendars I haven't looked into it...
