During character creation is the only way I think.

There is a character edtior somewhere - I found it on the bioware NwN site when somebody asked about adding wings to his character on this forum - but can't remember where and what excatly - at the moment.

I would suspect that you could change appearnce with that.

Oh yeah, try getting LETO or a similar program.

I've already got Leto, but I don't see anything about the models in the basic editor. I guess I'll have a go with the advanced editor, see if I can make any sense out of it.

Note you can easily change your character's looks with ingame means - always BETWEEN modules, that is!

Whenever you've finished a module (or "Chapter", as far as the main campaign is concerned), you are transported to the beginning of the next module. That is the moment where you can make arbitrary changes by doing the following:

- once you "materialized" in the new module, open the menu
- select "save character"
- exit to the main menu
- select "new game", then choose the module that you will play next
- select "premade character"
- choose your current character from the list but don't hit "OK" yet
- instead, hit the "Customize" button under the character list

Voila - you can now change portrait, appearance, name and even the voice of your avatar in the very same way like you did back in character creation. Very useful if you have made some ugly choices in the beginning. Only disadvantage of this method is that it can only be done whenever you transfer to a new module. :)
