hi, whenever i try to raise one of the members in my party, i get that message!!
He is an elven ranger, if that matters

HELP: "Uneffected by effects of Raise Dead"
I've never heard of any character "Immune" to raise or resurrection, but his race might have some spell resistance that affects this... Maybe someone else can give more help than me...-

Raise Dead does not work on Elves
Yes,
His being an elf does matter. In the original D&D rules as well as the subsequent editions, I believe it mentions that Elves can ONLY be brought back by a Resurrection spell and that Raise Dead does not work on them. I think but cannot say for certain that if you read the racial descriptions during the character creation portion of IWD it is buried in there somewhere as well. Bottom line is that you cannot use Raise Dead on an Elf. Sorry for the bad news.
