So, I talked to people in Ulgoths Beard about quests and they said that my map was updated but then nothing appeared on my map. I can't find Durlag's Tower and when I leave Ulgoths Beard I can't find that either. Is there somewhere special I have to go? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

How do you get a Nude Squid to make a Purple Monkey fly?
Try exiting the east edge of the Nashkel Carnival map - that should update your map with Durlag's Tower. Are you sure Ulgoth's Beard doesn't appear on your world map? What version of Baldur's Gate are you playing?
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...
What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

Having installed ToSC after some difficulties (and having completed the Shandalar quest), I find myself in the same situation. My worldmap does not show Ulgoth's Beard (the location symbol is located in Baldur's Gate). When I talk to the guy who offers tours of Durlag's Tower, I get a statement "your map has been updated", but when I look, still neither Durlag's Tower nor Ulgoth's Beard appear on my worldmap.
I walked down to the rough vicinity (DT is marked on the paper map that came with the game) but there are no exits towards the east, and I merely ended up in areas I already know. Haven't gone as far south as Naskell though.
I'm using the International version and the latest patch. I recall getting a number of "do you want to overwrite this read-only file" questions during ToSC installation, but I answered all with yes, and in checking now can't find any read-only files anyway in the directory.

Found this post in another thread that might explain it.

(The "do you want to convert your savefiles; you will not be able to read them with the old program" question comes at the end of the ToSC installation process, at a time when there is no chance to do a last save of all the files. Whoever put it at that point should be ashamed, that was a seriously bad interaction design.)
