I just noticed that the enemies in the first chapter o the main campaign give you a sh**load of experience points if you play it with an epic character. Each ridiculously weak escaped prisoner, docks rogue, plunderer and whatnot gives you 350-375 exp...
I can only conclude that this is some bug centered on the fact that the nwn main campaign wasn't intended for epic characters.
Anyway - if your epic chara needs experience quickly, go clear out the docks and the peninsula. The city of Neverwinter offers 2-3 epic levels in a matter of minutes.
