After enjoying Baldur's Gate on the Gamecube and then all the other similar games I could on consoles I decided to jump to their PC cousins. Neverwinter Nights was the first one recommended to me but I just wanted to make sure that I could play through the whole game with a friend. I know we have to get 2 copies and have 2 computers.
So is it possible to play the game from begining to end with a friend?
thanks

Well - the original NwN and (I belive) the SoU expansion aswell are both fully multiplayer compatible - even in the "single player campaigns".
HotU expansion has some problems with cut-scenes sequences that will break multiplayer games, although I belive somebody has found a way to circumvent this (which should be able to be found on the forum, searching a little).

Ok I got the game, awesome.. just awesome. My girlfriend and I are playing through it and I have one question, should we play as a group? We both get to share XP which is good in group BUT I got 2 free level ups. Once when the school was over and then again from someone once we started exploring the school after it had been attacked. For some reason she could not get them after I had which I assume is becasue we are in a group? She actually talked to the second character before me but only I was able to get the level up! Maybe it was because I started the group? Now I am lvl 3 and she is lvl 1. We are fightingh prisoners (she is half-elf druid) and she can't live 2 seconds! I am now a lvl 3 elf ranger with 2 swords going through things like water. I don't want to get any more free level ups and her not which brings me back to the grouping question. If we had not groupped would she have been able to get the 2 free levels like i did?
thanks

A bit old this thread, but it's still first-page -and- worth an answer I think...
That spot in the tutorial module is basically the only place I ever noticed where party experience gaining is screwed up. (because it's not a standard exp gain, but a script that grants the party leader a direct level-up).
I noticed the same when playing with a friend and got my doubts wether or not we should form a party during the main-modules. Yet, it turns out that all the -real- modules are well-written, so any future exp gain will be distributed among all party members, including quest exp rewards.
So: don't hesitate to play it through in a team. Once you're past the tutorial, things will be fine - and those two free charlevels that you received will slowly but surely become irrelevant while you both gain exp.

Hi TurboDwarf
IMO the only solution is this...
Let's say you take a Monk and your g/f a Wizard...
Play the Intro with your Monk alone and gain the 2 free levelups...
Then save your PC.
Then your g/f should do the same with her Wizard...
After that, start a new game selecting Chapter 1 (it's available 'cos you reached it...), select a pregenerated PC instead of creating a new one and choose your Monk3.
As your g/f reaches the game, she will select her Wizard3...
So your PCs will have both lvl3 instead of lvl3 and lvl1...
I've only played OC alone, but that should work...

Don't forget also that you're playing a combat-oriented character, whereas she's a divine spellcaster. It's not surprising that you're ahead in the combat stakes, even taking into account the two extra levels.

Those extra levels are just worth 3000 exp and have little effect by the middle part of chapter 1.
Its normally difficult to start chap 1 with a level 1 character, but since you are playing muti and are a fighting based class, they shouldn't be much problem. Just tell your gf to stay back.
Also, she could probably get more exp from the kills than you do, since she is of a lower level. This ensure that she will catch you to you easy.
