Have lost essential item? (NWN-Spoiler)

Post by Mufdi »

I lost the fourth regent from the dryad (lock of hair). I talked to her, was supposed to get the lock, and guess I didn't check if I actually had it. I went back looking to see if it had been put in any boxes, etc, but was nowhere to be found. Can I cheat somehow to get this to materialize? It's not in the divining pool, does the game save essential lost items somewhere else? Thanks for any info.

You probably stored it somewhere and it dosent appear as a lost item in the diving pool, there is a way to cheat for it as far as i know but im not good at that kinda thing.

Mufdi, you just need to go to the Temple of Tyr, and check the contents of the Divining Pool. It is there exactly for this reason! If you lose or drop quest items accidentally, they will reappear in the Pool - you only have to pay 1GP to get them back.

He said in his post that it wasn't in the divine pool. (which is where it should be if you had lost it, though - unless you are bugged (are you running latest patch?))

You're sure it hasn't just been misplaced in a bag of holding or similar in your inventory?

Also - it is possible to spawn in items in to the game, however you need to have the "itemtag" (name) for the item. This can be dug out from the toolset.
However, I'm not at home with my computer at the moment, so I can't find the tag and test it out for you.

Hmm, its nothing really new I guess, just the old disappearing plot items bug.

Type this into your chat bar to get your dryad's hair back:

##DebugMode=1 [Press enter]
##dm_spawnitem M1Q3PlotReagent [Press enter]
##DebugMode=0 [Press enter]

Case sensitive, you can't put "debugmode=1", must be as I typed it. Also, on the second step, before you press enter, move your mouse to the location you want it to drop at. Then you can pick it up like any normal item :)

Step one works, but when I try step 2 it says "Function dm_spawnitem not found" and doesn't come up with the item?

Try debugmode withouth the =, that is: DebugMode 1

Also if DebugMode works you will see area triggers around you turn yellow, so it is pretty visible if you are in debugmode or not.

It should work up with either version, with "=" or without.

Are you fully patched up to date? (ie, v1.62)

My current version is 1.22.6729 English Hordes of Underdark (and next to that it says NWUpdate version 1.21). I have tried to install the v 1.62 patch but it says the patch is not compatible with my version? Might I actually have mistakenly installed Hordes of the Underdark patch that is separate from the NWN patch? Is there a way to get the item without having to update? Thanks.

The 1.22 is the updater's version! I think SoU was at 1.30 and HotU 1.5x something like that, so you can't be far behind. If you have HotU then that command should work.

Just make sure you are spelling "spawnitem" exactly correct! Its easy to get wrong. And make sure you have your cursor somewhere on the screen pointing at a floor or something like that.

What do you mean when you say "it is the updater's version"? Do you mean that that is what you get when you use automatic update as opposed to manually downloading the patch? It is still not working, I think I will try to uninstall (but keep saved games) and then install v 1.62.

No no no. Sorry - I will make myself clearer. That is the version of the updater program itself. So the thing you update with is at version 1.22, but the game you're updating should be at v1.62 when you've finished updating :)

Hope that makes sense!
