PLEASE HELP ME! game freeze when leaving easthaven with hrothgar

Please help me! I just bought the IWD ultimate collection and am really really liking it. I've done everything I can in easthaven. I talk with Hrothgar and agree to leave with him to Kuldahar. Then I get the "loading" screen, then my party appears ready to walk across a bridge (with some character on screen by the bridge). I never get a movie cut or anything.

From there my game is frozen. The characters dither and continue to talk about "let's go". I can't operate anything on the screen, but the mouse/cursor moves. I've looked at patches, but they all say that the ultimate collection shouldn't need any patches.

I'm so frustrated!!! Please help me!

if you want, i can try to get (via pm or e-mail) you a saved game after the advalanch. just at the part you get stuck. then all you'd have to do is import your charitures into the game. if thats the only area you have a problem with, that should solve it.
