Where's gone Dr Elrath ?

Post by gmeurant »

Hi there,

I don't know if it's normal or if I'm missing something but after having found evidence of Dr Elrath implication in the plague (I know that Elrath was renting the cellar with poison inside), I cannot resolve the quest.
I'm searching for Dr Elrath near the quarantine zone, he's not there. I'm searching for him in his house, he's not there. I try to enter his house, I use the lanterns on the wall to open the first 2 doors, but I cannot open the following doors (even with 5 in lockpicks).

Am I missing something ??

Thanks,

Ched.

If you've already gathered evidence from the inn cellar that Elrath was involved in the poisonings, then check south not far from his house. As I recall, there should be a single barrel, there, It's where Elrath leaves the key to his house, which otherwise can't be opened. (I know: a lock which lies outside Larian's own lockpicking system. Sue them ,not me.) Try at different times if the key isn't there.

Work the wall lights puzzle to get through his house. Save before you visit his cellar; there's a nasty surprise, below.

Thanks, but...

The key you mention is for the front door or for the third inside door (after playing with the lights)? I already entered the house (I don't remember if it was with a key or lockpicking).
Anyway, I will look for the barrel and see if there's a key, thanks again ;)

My apologies; I didn't fully read your question.

You need to continue playing with the torch holders, turning various ones until the bedroom to the right is open. Go in there; I think there's a key. You'll also find at least one more torch holder to turn. Then come back out, and continue manipulating them until you get through the southernmost door.

As I recall, the way I progressed for the first few rooms was by turning each torch holder upon entering. This usually let me into the next one.

Great ! I think I didn't play enough with the lights. I have been in another place (I don't remember right now where it was... Verdistis, one of the 2 big houses ?) and I had to play with 5-6 levers to actually open a door, and it was quite long...

The mansion in Verdistis is much trickier, since the only way to progress is by random choices and observation. Elrath is logical.

Hi again,

I've just played a little to see if was doing something wrong, and it seems not. There's no key on/in the barrel, I think I have already taken it and used. Anyway, because I am in the house and can play with the lights, I would normally be able to enter the others doors.

This is the problem: I only have 2 lever/lights; the first one open the first inside door, and I can access the second one. The second one close the first door and opens the second door (great). But there, I see just one NORMAL light (it cannot be used like a lever) and 2 locked doors... I think it may be a bug !

What do you think ?

Did you move the torch holders in the living room, not just the corridor?

Ahhhhh, I didn't see these lights ! I feel a little bit stupid, thank you !
I have opened the door and killed the "surprise"... Only found 2 potions ... it's normal ?

One of the diseased inhabitants will die, because there's one potion too little. It really doesn't matter whom you give the potions to, though the developers did underscore, italicize and boldface the one they think should take the hit through dialog. ;)

Sir Patrick's Title Deed

There are only 3 levers you need to use, 1st the lever in the NW Room, 2nd Lever in the SE Room, last lever in central room. :)
