Avalanche sequence not working

When i've finished doing all my things in easthaven, i get transported to the pass before you go into the next town, and apparently, some hobo is supposed to come up to you and talk to you, and an avalanche is supposed to happen, but when i get transported to this pass, nothing happens, i can't select my characters, go into the options menu, or anything. The time in the game still passes and my party complains about wasting time, but i can't do anything else =( is there a way to move to another area using area code jumps like in baldur's gate? either that or a solution to this problem would be great

Do you have patches? Try v.1.06 if you just have IWD, use 1.41 (or the TotL download) if you have IWD/HoW.

You could also try a reinstall.

This is a buggy game, though. If you aren't patched, something else is bound to go wrong.

There is a cheat code "jump", but you have to have at least the v.1.06 patch to use cheats.

I have HOW, i tried a reinstall, did the same thing, tried the 1.06 patch, and the game wouldn't even start - i get some crazy assertion error when i try to load/start a game.

I can't find the code for the jump cheat, do you know what it is by any chance (and what the area code for the town that starts with k, i can't remember what it's called).

Urk! For starters, DO NOT use the 1.06 patch with HoW - the 1.06 patch is incorporated in it already, and it gets severely messed up. Try downloading the free Trials of the Luremaster expansion. That has the final patch in it, as well as further gaming areas.

You should purge the 1.06 patch from your system, clean out the cache, and try installing again with the TotL download.

I don't actually use the cheats, myself, so I can't help you with the specifics of what you need (except that the town's name is Kuldahar). However, I do recall that a google search for Icewind Dale and Heart of Winter turns up quite a few sites that have cheats.

Thanks for your help, I don't have much time at the moment, so i'll get around to it soonish, but i'm sure i can get it to work. If not, i'm going back to baldur's gate

either that or get a new computer....hmm...
