Strange: Two-Bladed Sword

I'm a human rogue/shadowdancer 10/5 and I've got Ambidexterity, Two Weapon Fighting and Improved Two Weapon Fighting. When unarmed my attack bonus is +10/+5. When using a vanilla two-bladed sword my attack boni are +8/+3 and +8/+3 on both hands. That's the first thing that strange imo. But what I find really strange is, that when I'm using for example a rapier in my main hand and a short sword in my off-hand my attack boni are +12/+7 +12/+7 meaning a whole 4 points higher than when using the two-bladed sword. Why is that? Ok let's say the two-bladed sword is considered as having a large weapon in each hand. That would make a difference of +2/+2 on the attack boni. But why the other 2 points?

Well - double bladed weapons are counted as dual wielding with a light off hand. Thus you will have a -2/-2 modifier to attack modifier (because of ambidexterity and two-weapon fighting).
This is also what you see when you say you have an unarmed attack of 10/5 and you equip the double bladed sword and you then have 8/3.

Why the rapier and short sword has higher - well, that could (amongst other things) be due to the enchantment bonus on thoese weapons, which gets added to the attack rolls.

another reason might be a Weapon Finesse feat, that adds your Dex bonus for light weapon instead of Str bonus, if Dex is higher than Str (and rapiers and shortswords are both "finessable")

Believe me, I was aware of everything you said until now. I DO NOT have Weapon Finesse. Why should I? I'm using two-bladed swords....
But I may have found the reason myself. I was using the rapier + short sword at the beginning of HotU. Remember this Druid who casts greater bull's strength on you if you treat her nice? Maybe this was still active while I was using the rapier/shortsword combo as I was using this combo only a very short time. Thread closeable.
