Windows XP SP2
Has anyone installed SP2 yet?
I usually wait a while before installing service packs from Microsoft.
Any problems?

I downloaded it about a week ago and no problems so far
it actually seems to have solved a problem I was having with another website.

I can't believe it... it ... worked?
Ok, now I got's to get my hands on it.
But I have to wait for the Dutch version.
I heard more positive things though.

All good here. Downloaded and installed at home over two weeks ago. Haven't run into anything labeled as a serious problem. The new firewall might cause some problems with Internet gaming, but I wouldn't know, because I've killed all the OS resident security.
Additionally, I've rolled out the update in the workplace and even after a week, the developers around here are still quiet. That is certainly a fine benchmark for SP2, because they can always find something to complain about. Again, in the workplace, the new local security apps are disabled so if there are any troubles with that aspect of xpsp2, I will have missed them.
btw, nice avatar rob-hin, how fitting, and extra points for going with the old school 'boy wonder'.

Crush enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of the women.
The is a plethora of program problems that Microsoft has kindly listed here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... ndowsxpsp2

I installed the beta as a last resort to a svchost.exe problem I was having (it pushed the CPU usage to 100% almost constantly... not soon after a reformat
).
Well it solved that, and it seems to make XP more stable, and although the new security centre is almost useless to professional users, I still recommend it.

Hello, guys.
I actually popped in to ask an advice on Win XP SP2.
Ever since I installed, I came across a few problem viewing some other sites, which I did not have problem before. I am sure it is caused by firewall upgrade (or whatever), within the SP2, as I have not done any other updates, except virus database updates.
Any advice?
It really is annoying because my friend had just made a link to my website, and asked me to check if it's properly linked. And I can't see it in her site! I checked it on another machine which has Win2000 instead. It's got to be SP2 related.
Thanks in advance.
Have you tried turning of the WinXP firewall to see if the sites works withouth it.
Well, it used to work before I installed SP2. I added a couple of sites to Trusted Sites and they works fine.
I know I just keep adding sites in this list whenever I need, but I don't really want long list of websites which may not relevant in six months time.

To answer the original question, we installed SP2 over the weekend and it miraculously fixed a problem we had been having with Internet Explorer (but we still are using Netscape)! Everything else seems to be working fine.
Sorry, but I can't offer any help with Minerva's issue...
