Torment not installing on Win2000
Installation didn't start when I clicked the install button in the autorun menu, so I tried running Setup.exe directly. The computer loads something for a couple of seconds, but then nothing happens. I even tried reading the CD to an image and run it straight from my HD, but it didn't help either. Does anyone know about this? As mentioned in the topic, I'm using Windows 2000.
I just check my task manager's process tab. It had about 20 copies of setup.exe running. This made me want to reboot and what do you know, Windows magic did it again. The installation went by just fine after that. I rarely shut down my computer nowadays so rebooting has become quite distant a solution to me. Well, now I'm happy again. Yay! \o/
This reminds me of an episode from Stargate SG-1, in which a friendly alien spaceship was followed by some sort of killer-reproducing-mechanical-spiders. Note that the friendly (to SG-1) aliens were MUCH smarter and technologically superior to us earthlings. Anyway, they were unable to rid themselves of the spiders that followed them. So, they called upon the members of SG-1 to help them find a way. The aliens thought these humans would come up with a "silly", but working, solution (like restarting your computer
) that only someone with a lesser mind would think of it. And SG-1 did come up with such a solution. It was really simple: self-destruct the ship. In doing so, the spiders, that were tailing the ship, would be caught in a powerful atomic explosion. Of course, the crew had to abandon the ship first.
Morale of the story: Sometimes, the silliest and simplest solutions may be the best.
Ok, I have no idea why I wrote this... Anyway, enjoy Planescape: Torment
