HELP!!!!! TOB ( Technical problems ) *spoiler*

Post by Agnocar »

Help! I'm near the end of TOB, having defeated 4 of the 5, and have just got to get back to.. Amthratka? Whatever the name of the Monk village is. Anyway, whenever I try to get back to the village, it'll autosave, but in the middle of loading the area, it'll just up and crash! I've tried reloading from earlier saves, but to no avail. I've tried re-installing, patch and sans patch, nothing seems to help!
Please, I need your help, this is Game-Stopping! ( and I thought I was going to finish toninght :( :( )

I have 98, I have a 450 Mhz K6 chip, and have a D3d accelerator, so 3d graphics are turned off.
On furhter experimentation, I can get into the city before, but not after, I kill Sendai ( the 4th of the 5 I killed ).
Is that of any help??

No, I've tried returning from everywhere, watcher's keep, adzagial's lair, the Drow lair, the Oasis, everywhere.
On a side note, something like this happened in my first go-through of SOA. I had to restart. :( Needless to say, this is not an option this time.

Weird bug... I know that there IS a problem when one saves a game in the pocket plane, expecting to return to an area later (I've experienced it a number of times)...

Have you tried 'warping in' to Amkethren, or a building INSIDE of Amkethren?

I can help you with your quote: the source is John Greenleaf Whittier in "Maud Muller",
line 105. But the first word of the quote is "For," not "Of":

For all sad words of tongue or pen,
The saddest are these: "It might have been."

My source: The Concise Oxford Dictionary of
Quotations

How might I accomplish this?

if you have BG2 running in debug mode, you could 'MoveToArea("ARXXXX")', where XXXX is the area code for either a building inside Amkethran or Amkethran itself.

IIRC, the area code for Amkethran is 5500.

Are you sure the area code is 5500? When I type it in, it says file not found in the dialog box

CLUAConsole:MoveToArea("AR5500")

that SHOULD work, if you're running in debug mode.

Aye, indeed the hack did work, however, much to my dismay, upon the loading of the town, the game crashed
Whats wierd is, before killing Sendai, everything is fine, now its screwed. Hmmmm, maybye there is some change to the map? Regardless, There IS a problem, and until the next patch comes out, my progress is frozen. :( :(  :( :(

This is a long shot, but do you have any duplicate items on you, such as two rings of regeneration, or two rings of Gaxx? I had a problem somewhat similar to this one when I tried importing some SoA items into ToB with Shadow Keeper. Browse your inventory, and make sure that you only have one of any given item. If you have more than one, delete it with Shadow Keeper, which you can download here. I hope this helps.

Hmmm, the only item I Hacked into my game was Sarevok's Sword, and the original is safely with Ribald.....
Wouldn't the game crash upon entering any area, not just the city, if I had duplicate items? Just a thought
