Idiot Party Members *slight spoilers*

*slight spoilers*

I've just started playing NWN and am currently in the prison taking on the head gaoler. However my cleric keeps getting herself killed  I've got her set to use ranged weapons and to stay the maximum distance away from me, however she always seem to end up in the fight getting sliced and diced within a couple of hits. Is there anyway I can tell her to run away/back off? I've been looking thru the manual but couldn't really see anything in there (probably in a really obvious spot that I'm just missing). I've tried running away myself, she eventually follows but usually gets smacked down before that happens.

Any help would be apreciated :(

NPC/Party AI - especially in the original NwN - is not very good, so it is a common problem.

My experience with these henchmen is rather limited, cause I most often just use a tanking henchmen (except in expansions where I use a bard one) like Dalean and Grimgnaw(sp?).
I've found that these work pretty okay, but of course, they should just run up and bash stuff.

Ahh ok thanks Xandax. I'm just a little annoyed as I come from the Baldur's Gate series where you can customise everything about your NPC's and have total control over them into this where you're very limited in what you can get them to do. I would actually prefer to have that extra control over my henchmen, it wouldn't be so bad losing that control if the AI wasn't too bad :( I don't expect flawless behaviour but all I needed was a command to run away when hurt badly (like in fallout).

I eventually got past that part after a LOT of loading. Major exercise in frustration.

Well, try keeping on giving your henchmen/summons/familiars orders as descriped in the manual (p100 my version) and hopeing for the best ....

There is also an AI modification out, that supposedly should improved the AI (regarding spell casting and possible others)

Try checking out this site

Unfortunally - I've not tried thoese, so can't recommend nor discourage the usage of any.

Hope it helps.

You can always instruct your henchmen to "hold their position" in an empty room away from the fighting. They will only charge ahead if they can see the enemy.

I did this often in my short run through the first few chapters of the original campaign. Although I must say single player NWNs was not fun enough for me to finish the game - or even start the campaigns from the two expansion. I stick to multiplayer - the single player campaign is just a tutorial on the interface IMHO. ;)
