Navigate the "radial" menu:

Right click with your mouse, and choose "Special abilities".
Then the "Summon Familiar" should be on the left side. (Around 8 o'clock if thinking of a watch, in my game)

To place the icon (any icon) on your quickbar, right click on the specific slot you want the command to be placed in in, and select "Assign Special Ability" (or any other command you want there) and select "Summon Familiar".

It should now be on your quickbar in the slot in which you clicked.

Hope this helps.

? Is that little factoid even in the manual ?
It may be better to be a live jackal than a dead lion but it is better still to be a live lion - and usually easier.

Well ... sort of. It depends on how well one reads the manual (I'm a manual freak myself :D )

It says (in my version on p. 14 under "The Quickbar" - the final sentence) in regards of placing spells on the quickbar:

"....... or by radialing off the quickbar and selecting the spell".

And the radial menu is explained in the section above in the manual.

So it isn't explicit descriped, no, and I can surly see how it can cause confusion.

So the manual says that you can place spells on the quickbar, using the raidal menu. Thus you can deduct that you can place other sorts of commands on the quickbar also accessible through the radial menu.

Thanks. I have to admit that I didn't carefully read the manual myself and had been using the drag&drop technique to put things onto the QuickBar (appropriate to use D&D on a D&D game :D ). I am not sure tho' that I would have interpreted the instructions the way that you did - apparently they need better tech writers & proofreaders on their staff.

D&D was how I set up the weapon combos & is how the in-game tips (during game & area load) describe the procedure. I got confused recently, however, when I found myself disarmed before combat - found out that equipping a torch UN-equips a scythe  .

Simple - a scythe needs two hands, and you don't have two free hands when you equip a torch :)

That was the reason for the confusion - I don't normally have characters USING two-handed weapons and this was a sorc/DD combo (took exotics recently and then found that scythe - he is almost as good as Daelon at smashing stuff now and heading for better) - forgot about the scythe being two-handed and the paperdoll doesn't show it as such like in ToEE by Troika. As soon as I identified the situation, I put that scythe on the quickbar and no more problem. :D
