32 bit Processors, or 64?

I'll be building my own computer in the coming weeks, and have begun to look at prices, and specs, and so forth, when this came to my attention. AMD has released the 64 bit processors, which are expensive, but they are also exponetially better then the current processor's.

now, my question, is there enough hardware out there that will effectivly support these processor's yet, or if I pick one up, will it sit their without using it's full potential for many months to come?

So, is it better to stick with the current processor's for now, and should I go gung ho?

Save your money - personally the 64 bit processor will not be fully used at the moment, there is nothing designed for it (software wise as well) yet. I just bought my P4 3.0 GHz and it runs rapidly and solidly.

I would suppose its whether you want to have longevity and save some money or go full on and tear it up (but wait a little while for it).

I agree with Nippy. There's nothing that can run it yet that will make any difference. There are a few motherboards that support both the AMD64 and FX processors, but there's still no software for them. Windows XP 64 bit is still in beta and won't be released until later this year, but more importantly there's no applications or games that will make use of all that extra power (unless you're really looking for a CAD workstation).

On the other hand, it's 32 bit capabilities will blow away anything else out there. While the FX51 may only run at 2.2GHz it'll still run circles around a P4 3.2GHz, but at 3 times the price.

Alright. So I'll save my case for a bit, stick with the AMD 2500 (as I honestly don't see the point in buying the 3.0, as I can overclock the 2500 to the same specs).
